They are the parts that finish an AFILS install: loop cable or copper tape, input plates, signs, testers, rack kits and ‘loop active’ indicators. They are not a complete hearing-loop system — you still need a loop driver.
Round loop cable suits a perimeter loop in a void, under a floor or in trunking. Flat copper tape suits a loop laid under carpet or a thin floor finish. Use the cable size the driver maker recommends; too thin a cable limits current and coverage. Protective tape over copper tape stops it being damaged when floorcoverings are laid.
So users know a loop is present and can switch their hearing aid T-coil on. Self-adhesive “induction loop present” labels go at the counter, door or room entrance. A sign does not prove the loop meets IEC 60118-4 — it only tells people to try the T setting.
It lets an installer hear the loop and check field strength, with headphones and, on some units, high/low LEDs. Use it at commissioning and on later visits. A simple loop receiver such as the SigNET RxTi2 can also be used by a staff member to check if the loop is working. A phone app is not a substitute for a proper loop receiver.
A wall plate that takes a mic, XLR, jack or phono feed and sends it to the loop amplifier, so the source can sit at the counter or lectern instead of at the rack. Match the plate to the connector you actually have.
Screened multi-core cable that links a remote input plate back to the loop driver. It carries the audio and, on some systems, power for the plate. Do not substitute ordinary speaker cable.
Only through a proper 100V-to-line converter plate. Connecting a loop driver straight across a 100V line can damage both. The converter gives a safe line-level feed from the PA. See the SigNET LEST.
A plate that lights when the loop driver is working, so staff can see the system is turned on. It shows status. It does not measure field strength.
