Dante Loudspeakers

Dante Loudspeakers

Add Dante Enabled loudspeakers to your networked audio system for ease of set up and control. Long cable runs are possible using slimline data network cabling whilst still providing excellent audio fidelity. Dante speakers are designed for today’s networked commercial audio systems, combining high‑quality sound reproduction with the simplicity and flexibility of audio over IP. Instead of traditional speaker cabling, these speakers connect directly to standard Ethernet networks, making installation faster, cleaner and far more scalable.

We offer a wide range of Dante‑enabled loudspeaker types, such as ceiling speakers, surface‑mount cabinets, pendant speakers, soundbars and outdoor or water‑resistant models. This versatility makes them ideal for applications including offices, retail stores, hospitality venues, education buildings, leisure centres, transport hubs and large multi‑zone facilities. Whether you are delivering background music in a restaurant, clear speech in a university corridor, or zoned announcements across a corporate building, Dante loudspeakers offer a reliable and professional solution.

As active, powered loudspeakers, they feature built‑in amplification and DSP, reducing the need for external amplifiers and simplifying system design. Network control allows individual speakers or zones to be monitored and adjusted remotely, supporting everything from volume control to diagnostics.

Dante loudspeakers can reproduce uncompressed digital audio streams, making them perfectly suited for speech, paging, background music and AV soundtracks delivered from networked sources, media players or central DSP systems.

By integrating seamlessly with Dante and AES67 compatible systems, these network audio speakers are a future‑proof choice for installers and system designers.

Offering long cable runs, consistent sound quality and centralised control, Dante loudspeakers are a smart solution for modern commercial audio installations. For more information, please get in touch - one of our Dante trained specialists will be delighted to help you.

FAQs

What is a Dante loudspeaker?

It is an active speaker with the amplifier and DSP built in, which takes its audio from a Dante network instead of a 100V line. Ceiling, cabinet, pendant, soundbar and weather-resistant types are used in offices, retail, hospitality, education and multi-zone buildings.

How is a Dante speaker different from a 100V speaker?

A 100V speaker is passive: one amplifier feeds many speakers on speaker cable, and each has a wattage tap. A Dante speaker is powered, is addressed on the network, and can be turned up, EQ’d or monitored on its own. You trade a central amp rack for a network point and power at each speaker.

How is a Dante speaker different from a Dante amplifier?

A Dante amplifier powers separate passive speakers. A Dante loudspeaker is the amplifier and the speaker in one box. Use Dante speakers when each point needs its own level and you want less rack space. Use a Dante amplifier and 100V speakers when one circuit must cover a long run of identical ceilings.

Do Dante loudspeakers still need power?

Yes, unless the model is specifically PoE. Audio arrives on the network cable; the built-in amplifier usually still needs a mains feed at the speaker. Plan a power point or a PoE switch only where the datasheet says the speaker is PoE.

How far can a Dante loudspeaker be from the rack?

The limit is Ethernet, not speaker-cable loss — typically 100 m of copper to the switch, then further over fibre between switches. That suits large buildings better than thin 100V cable only when the network is already there and each speaker can be powered.

Can Dante speakers play paging and background music?

Yes. A Dante DSP or mixer routes music and paging to each speaker or group. Priority and ducking are set in the mixer, not in the speaker. These are commercial BGM and paging speakers, and not suitable as EN54-24 voice-alarm loudspeakers unless a model is certified for that.

What loudspeaker styles are available with Dante built in?

Flush ceiling speakers for offices, surface cabinets, pendants for open ceilings, soundbars for meeting rooms, and IP-rated models for semi-outdoor positions. Match the format to the room first, then confirm there is a Date compatible network to connect it.

Can I mix Dante speakers with an existing analogue PA?

Only via a Dante interface or a mixer that has both Dante and analogue outputs. A Dante speaker will not sit on a 100V speaker line. Hybrid sites usually keep 100V in plant areas and use Dante speakers where the network and local power already exist.

Do Dante loudspeakers need special configuration?

They appear in Dante Controller and need a subscription or address, plus level and EQ in the speaker or the DSP. AES67 compatibility helps with some other network audio, but devices still have to be checked on the network. A Dante-trained installer should commission them.

Who can help specify Dante loudspeakers?

Commercial Audio Solutions stocks Dante ceiling, cabinet, pendant and weather-resistant speakers and has Dante-trained staff. Call 01663 767888 or email sales@commercialaudiosolutions.com with the room type, whether you have local power at each point, and if the system is new or has to join an existing Dante network.
