FAQs

What is a commercial video player used for?

It plays video loops and clips on screens in shops, museums, hotels, transport hubs, gyms and conference venues without a PC left running. Many units also have a small built-in amplifier so the soundtrack can feed a local speaker or a PA line input.

How is a commercial video player different from a domestic media player?

Install players are built for all-day looping from USB, microSD or internal memory, with contact closures and sometimes DMX. A home Blu-ray player is not designed for 24/7 signage, button triggers or a rack in a ceiling void.

Do I need 4K for retail and museum screens?

4K players suit large displays and close viewing. WUXGA media servers are enough for many mapping and multi-screen jobs. Match the player to the screen resolution and the content you actually have — a 4K player will not improve a low-resolution file.

How do you load video onto a commercial player?

Most units play from USB, microSD or built-in memory. Encode to a format the player lists (often MP4 with a compatible audio track) and set it to loop. A PC is for preparing files, not for staying on site.

Can a video player drive speakers as well as a screen?

Many include a small amplifier, typically a few watts per channel, plus line outputs. That covers a display speaker. A shop-floor or gallery PA still needs a mixer-amp or 100V amplifier fed from the line output.

How do buttons and sensors start a video?

Contact-closure inputs let a push button, PIR or external controller start a clip. Single-input players suit one screen and one trigger. Players with several inputs and outputs can run a row of exhibits or start other devices when the video starts.

What is a video-mapping media server?

It plays more than one video stream and maps them onto irregular surfaces or several projectors, rather than sending one full-screen loop to one display. Use a mapping server for immersive installs. Use a 4K signage player for a straightforward promotional screen.

Can video players sync with lighting?

Show-control players can send DMX or ArtNet cues with the picture, so lights follow the clip. A basic 4K player will not. Specify a show controller when audio, video and lighting must start together.

Will a commercial video player run all day?

These units are intended for continuous looping in public spaces. Give them ventilation, a stable power supply and content that is already encoded. Do not rely on a laptop or a domestic streamer for unattended signage.

Who can help me choose a commercial video player?

Commercial Audio Solutions stocks 4K players, interactive video players and video-mapping media servers. Call 01663 767888 or email sales@commercialaudiosolutions.com with the screen size, whether playback is a loop or button-triggered, and if you need audio into an existing PA.
