Wireless Mic Accessories

Wireless Mic Accessories

Wireless microphone systems work best when the extras around them are right. This category covers the parts that mount receivers, place antennas, charge transmitters and put a capsule on a presenter without replacing the whole system.

Rack hardware comes first in many installs. Half-rack sized receivers need ears, trays or joining plates so one or two units sit cleanly in a 19-inch bay. Rear-to-front antenna cables bring the connectors to the front of the rack, which makes setup and checks easier when the cabinet is tight against a wall. Matching kits are listed for Mipro, Audio-Technica and Sennheiser receivers commonly found in schools, churches, hotels and gyms.

Antenna accessories keep the radio path healthy. Directional antenna pairs help larger UHF systems reach across a hall or sports hall. Antenna splitters share one pair of aerials between several receivers so you are not covering the rack in loose dipoles. In-line boosters support longer cable runs when the rack lives in a cupboard and the antennas need to sit in the room.

Charging and power accessories keep hire stock and club transmitters ready. Single-slot chargers for handhelds and bodypacks, dual-bay docks, link kits and spare power supplies reduce last-minute battery hunts before a class or service.

Capsule accessories complete beltpack systems. Tie-clip lavaliers—omnidirectional or unidirectional, black or beige - suit presenters, clergy and lecturers who want a discreet mic. Headset microphones, including aerobics-style headworn options, leave both hands free for fitness instructors, trainers and anyone who talks while moving. These clip-on and headworn mics are offered to match popular beltpack connectors from Mipro, TOA, Audio-Technica and others.

Used together, wireless microphone accessories turn a basic receiver and transmitter into a tidy, reliable install: antennas where the signal is strongest, receivers in the rack, and the right lavalier or headset on the person speaking.

FAQs

What counts as a wireless microphone accessory?

Anything that supports a system you already have: spare lavalier or headset mics, chargers, rack kits, antenna splitters, directional antennas, boosters, front-mount antenna cables and power supplies.

Can I fit any lavalier or headset to any beltpack?

No. The connector and wiring (mini-XLR pin-out) are brand- and series-specific. Use a capsule made for that beltpack. A lookalike headset can fit the socket and still be silent or damage the input. The exception is the range of headset mics from Fitness Audio – they have clever tech in the T3 or T4 connector which enables them to work with any transmitter the plug will physically fit into.

Should I choose an omnidirectional or unidirectional lapel mic?

Omnidirectional lavaliers pick up more evenly if the head turns, and suit speech at a desk. Unidirectional (cardioid) lavaliers reject more sound from behind — better on a loud stage or near a PA speaker, but they need to stay aimed at the mouth.

When do I need a headset instead of a tie clip?

Use a headset for fitness, theatre or any job where the talker looks down or moves fast. A tie clip drifts off-axis when they turn. Aerobics headsets are built to stay put and handle sweat better than a thin interview lavaliere.

What does an antenna splitter or distribution system do?

What does an antenna splitter or distribution system do?It feeds several wireless receivers from one pair of antennas so you are not covering the rack in whip aerials. Essential once you have more than a couple of UHF receivers in the same rack. The splitter must match the frequency band of those receivers.

When should I add directional antennas or an antenna booster?

When the rack is in a cupboard, the room is large, or the presenter moves a long way from the receiver. Directional antennas point at the performance area. A booster helps with long antenna-cable runs. Neither will fix a transmitter on the wrong frequency.

Why use a dedicated charger instead of disposable batteries?

Daily school, gym and church mics are cheaper and more reliable on rechargeable packs in a drop-in charger. A single-slot charger suits one spare handheld or pack. Multi-slot docks suit a drawer of bodypacks. Use the dedicated charger made for that battery type.

Do wireless receivers need a rack mount kit?

Half-width and compact receivers often need a tray or kit to sit safely in a 19-inch rack. Some models enable two half width receivers to sit side by side thereby saving space in the rack. Front-mount antenna cables then bring the aerials to the rack front so they are not buried around the back. Kits are model-specific.

Can I mix accessory brands across a wireless system?

Antennas and generic rack hardware are more transferable if the frequency band matches. Capsules, chargers and antenna cables usually are not. Keep the accessory in the same series as the transmitter or receiver unless the manufacturer says otherwise.

Who can help me choose wireless microphone accessories?

Commercial Audio Solutions stocks lavaliers, headsets, chargers, rack kits and antenna hardware for Mipro, Audio-Technica, TOA, LD Systems and others. Call 01663 767888 or email sales@commercialaudiosolutions.com with the transmitter or receiver series you use and whether you need a spare capsule, charger or antenna setup.
