Wireless Mic Transmitters

Wireless Mic Transmitters

The wireless microphone transmitter is the part you hold, clip on or stand on a table. It sends the voice to a matching wireless receiver so presenters, teachers and instructors can move freely. This range covers handheld radio microphones, beltpack bodypacks, and specialist table transmitters for gooseneck and boundary mics.

Mipro is widely used with portable PA and installed wireless systems, including rechargeable handhelds and bodypacks on licence-free 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz as well as licensed UHF.

Audio-Technica offers beltpacks and handhelds for its analogue UHF ranges plus digital 2.4 GHz packs, handhelds, desk stands and boundary transmitters for boardrooms and meeting tables.

TOA’s commercial wireless line is a long-standing choice in schools, churches and public buildings, with analogue UHF on Channel 38 or licence-free Channel 70 and digital UHF handhelds and beltpacks for licensed installs.

Handheld transmitters suit speeches, Q&A, worship and anyone who wants a familiar mic in the hand. Many use interchangeable or fixed capsules and some are rechargeable, which helps busy hire desks and fitness clubs. Beltpack transmitters clip to a belt or pocket and pair with a headset or lavalier mic. That is the usual setup for gym instructors, tour guides, lecturers and theatre - hands free, capsule close to the mouth. Desk-stand transmitters turn a wired gooseneck into a wireless conference mic. Boundary transmitters sit on a table and pick up discussion without a stand in the way.

Choose by radio band as well as form. Licence-free 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz digital packs avoid Channel 38 paperwork and TV interference - practical for many gyms, classrooms and small venues. Licensed UHF is often preferred when several microphones must run together or the building already uses Channel 38.

Always match the transmitter series and frequency band to the receiver already in the rack.

A well-chosen wireless microphone transmitter and receiver keep speech clear in group fitness, training rooms, hotels, houses of worship and multi-purpose halls—without trailing cables.

FAQs

What is a wireless microphone transmitter?

It is the part you hold or wear that sends the microphone signal to a matching receiver. This category is for spare or extra transmitters — handhelds, beltpacks, and specialist units such as boundary or desk-stand transmitters. If you’re looking for a complete wireless mic system, click here to visit that category.

Why buy a transmitter on its own?

To replace a lost or damaged transmitter, add a second / different style of transmitter to an existing receiver, or keep a charged spare. A transmitter will only work with a receiver in the same wireless series and frequency band.

What is the difference between a handheld and a beltpack transmitter?

A handheld has the capsule and transmitter all in one housing — best for speeches and audience participation Q&A. A beltpack or bodypack transmitter clips on the belt and takes a lavalier (tie clip) or headset mic. Choose the beltpack option when the presenter needs both hands free.

Are there any wireless transmitters that sit on a table?

Yes. Some ranges include boundary and desk-stand transmitters for meetings, so the table becomes the mic position instead of a handheld. They still need a matching receiver in the same series.

Do transmitters have to match the receiver brand and band?

Yes. Pair 2.4 GHz with 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz with 5.8 GHz, and UHF Channel 38 or Channel 70 with the same band and family. Mixing series usually results in no audio, even if both units look similar.

Is a Channel 70 transmitter licence-free in the UK?

Channel 70, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz transmitters are typically licence-free. Channel 38 UHF usually needs an Ofcom licence. Confirm current UK rules for your site, especially if several transmitters will be on at once.

How long do wireless transmitter batteries last?

Often a working day, depending on the model and whether you use alkalines or a rechargeable pack. Rechargeable handhelds and bodypacks are better for daily school, gym or church use. Keep a spare charged transmitter for changeovers.

Can I use any headset or lavalier on a beltpack transmitter?

Only if the connector and wiring match (mini-XLR pin-out varies by brand). A headset from another manufacturer may fit the socket but could be silent or cause damage. The exception is the Fitness Audio range of headset mics – they have clever tech in the 3 or 4 pin connector which enables compatibility with any brand: as long as the plug fits the transmitter pack, it works! How do I add a second wireless transmitter to a dual or quad receiver?

Buy a transmitter in the same series, set it to a free channel that the receiver supports, and pair or sync as the manual describes. Two transmitters on the same frequency will interfere. Dual and quad receivers still need one transmitter per channel.

Who can help me match a spare wireless transmitter?

Commercial Audio Solutions stocks handheld, beltpack and specialist transmitters from brands such as Mipro, Audio-Technica and TOA. Call 01663 767888 or email sales@commercialaudiosolutions.com with the receiver model or series you already have and whether you need handheld or beltpack.
