Dante DSP Mixers

Dante DSP Mixers

Dante enabled commercial audio mixers are here!  We've collated a number of DSP mixers from various manufacturers which are ready for Dante networking. Dante DSP mixers bring together powerful digital signal processing and modern audio networking to form the backbone of today’s commercial sound systems.

Designed for fixed installations, these mixers focus on distributing, controlling and optimising audio over standard Ethernet networks, reducing the need for bulky analogue cabling while improving flexibility and scalability.

They are ideally suited to environments such as offices, retail spaces, hospitality venues, education facilities, leisure centres and transport hubs, where multiple audio zones and sources need to be managed reliably. Typical applications include background music, paging and announcements, speech reinforcement, AV integration and multi-room audio distribution.

By combining DSP features with Dante and AES67 compatibility, these units can route high‑quality, uncompressed digital audio between mixers, amplifiers, wall panels and other networked audio devices with very low latency.

Analogue microphone and line‑level inputs allow connection of radio tuners, media players and microphones, while digital inputs and network audio streams handle modern AV sources with ease. Some systems also support onboard media playback from removable digital storage media, making them ideal for standalone music or messaging systems.

Built for professional installations, Dante DSP mixers often support matrix mixing, multi‑zone routing, network control and rack‑mount installation.

For installers and system designers, they offer a future‑proof solution that integrates seamlessly into larger IP‑based audio and control networks. With reliable performance and excellent audio fidelity, Dante DSP mixers are a key component in modern commercial audio systems.

FAQs

What is a Dante DSP mixer?

It is a digital matrix that mixes, EQ’s and routes audio, then sends it over a Dante network to amplifiers and other rooms. Offices, retail, hospitality, education and transport hubs use them for background music, paging and multi-zone audio.

How is a Dante DSP mixer different from an analogue zone mixer?

An analogue zone mixer needs a screened cable to every amplifier. A Dante DSP mixer routes zones in software over Ethernet, with EQ, delay and scenes per output. You still use analogue inputs for local microphones, tuners and media players.

How is a Dante mixer different from a Dante amplifier?

The mixer decides what plays where and processes it. The amplifier only powers the speakers. A Dante system usually has both: a DSP mixer as the source, and Dante or analogue amplifiers at the racks.

What does AES67 compatibility mean?

AES67 is a standard way to carry audio between some network devices. Dante-compatible AES67 helps a mixer talk to other networked audio, but it is not a guarantee that every third-party box will connect. Confirm the devices in Dante Controller before you rely on it.

Do I still need microphone and line inputs if the mixer is on Dante?

Yes, unless every source is already on the network. Paging mics, radio tuners and CD/USB players normally connect to analogue mic/line inputs. Dante covers the link from the mixer to remote amplifiers and other DSPs.

Can a Dante DSP mixer handle paging and background music?

Yes. Matrix mixers route music to zones and duck it when a paging mic is used. Priority and zone buttons still have to be programmed.

Why would a conference room need echo cancellation on the DSP?

Automatic echo cancellation reduces the room sound that goes back to the far end of a call when loudspeakers and microphones are in the same space. Specify it for hybrid meetings. It is not required for shop background music.

What network does a Dante DSP mixer need?

A wired gigabit network, normally with QoS and a dedicated audio VLAN on larger sites. Wi-Fi is for control apps, not for the Dante audio path. The mixer still needs mains and a place in the rack.

How many zones can a Dante matrix feed?

That depends on analogue outputs plus Dante channels. A small matrix may cover a handful of rooms. Larger units route dozens of channels to amplifiers elsewhere on the network. Count zones and spare outputs before you choose the model.

Who can help specify a Dante DSP mixer?

Commercial Audio Solutions stocks Dante matrix mixers and processors from brands such as Yamaha and LD Systems, and has Dante-trained staff. Call 01663 767888 or email sales@commercialaudiosolutions.com with how many sources, how many zones, and whether you need paging, echo cancellation or network control.
