19" Racks
19” equipment racks are available flat packed for economy, but pre-assembled and welded racks may offer increased long term rigidity and strength. Wooden racks and rack sleeves are designed for areas where the rack may be on view, such as a board room or meeting room.
19” racks are measured in ‘U’ heights. This measurement offers a quick and easy reference as to the height of any equipment which may be mounted in the rack – most rack mountable audio equipment will specify the ‘U’ height, enabling the required rack size to be calculated quickly and easily.
It's always a good idea to allow some extra space in the rack to aid ventilation and allow space for further expansion of the system.
1 rack unit, or U, is equivalent to 1.75 inches (44.45 mm).
